Based on the Prize's international strategy and the geographic reach of its key partners, works and supporting documents are accepted in three languages: Russian (the official language of the Prize), English, and French.

All works in foreign languages ​​must be accompanied by a brief summary (abstract) in Russian for initial review by the organizing committee.

Challengers

The Bunin Prize is open to writers, poets, translators, and cultural figures from around the world whose work meets high standards and contributes to the development of world literature.


Works submitted for nomination must meet the following genres: prose (novels, short stories, essays), poetry, and drama.

Criteria

Exceptional craftsmanship – works must be distinguished by a profound style, resonance, and originality capable of touching the heart and provoking reflection.


Relevance and significance – the subject matter must be relevant, touching on important aspects of life and culture.


Individuality and originality – we value those who can find their own voice, stand out from their peers, and bring something new to art.


Independence and dedication – candidates demonstrate creative sincerity and a willingness to develop, overcoming any obstacles.

The works of the Bunin Prize laureates and shortlisted writers will be included in the project's international digital Almanac, ensuring recognition in the global academic community.
